Each Wednesday, fresh style shares our Wednesday DIY. The WDIY is a fun and easy midweek project to inspire you! We hope it will spark an idea that has you gathering your tools, breaking out your paintbrushes, and putting a drop cloth in the driveway for weekend creativity in the sun!
Most collectors of curios will agree that acquiring them is the easy part. It’s finding the best way to display them that gives us pause. Well, if you love little things, then you’re in luck—we’ve got this covered. Vintage-type drawers are perfect for showing off those tiny treasures or a grouping of sewing notions, threads, and such.
Whether you leave the wood in its natural state, or spray paint it to match your decor, the possibilities are limitless. A smaller drawer display could be useful for storing keys; while a larger size could provide a nifty display case for a vintage toy collection. A seashell collection looks especially elegant in unpainted drawers.
We are crazy for the vintage type drawer that doubles as a jewelry display. This one appears in our March/April 2014 issue. It’s painted a happy turquoise color and has snippets of sheet music glued to a few random compartments to add interest. Attach cup hooks in various places, and add hanging hardware to the back of the piece. Mount your artsy jewelry organizer above your vanity, and arrange your glittery baubles and jangly bangles to your heart’s delight!
