When I was a little girl my siblings and I did yard work for a sweet elderly lady who was a friend of our family’s. My job was to trim her dozens of fern bushes, and to this day when I see a fern I think of her. So when I saw these lovely ferns in the craft store I knew I had to use them for a project. I love the autumn colors and lush look this runner adds to the table. And most of all, I love how easy it was to make!
2 bushes of ferns (about 35-40 ferns)
6 yards of velvet ribbon cut into four 45′-inch sections
Hot glue gun and glue
- Lay out 4 (45-inch) sections of ribbon about 1.5 inches apart with ends even. Cut all ferns off of fern bush with wire cutters.
- Glue the first layer of ferns about 2 inches apart, with tips all pointing the same direction.
- Fill in the gaps by gluing on a second layer of ferns with tips pointing the opposite direction.
All done! When the season is over, simply roll it up and store until next year!
